What’s Happenin’

Nellie and Ernie Martin,C-11, have offered to provide the Lake Erie Perch for a fish fry and even fry the fish if all that want to attend bring a covered dish. They now want suggestions for a time and date. So how about it? Anyone have any suggestions? We all have seen the "guys" still in the park and when I asked who and what they were they told me they were cable guys. I was not notified of the continued activity and could not warn all of you to expect them. Now for some female attraction. A resident of the park, Mary Snider F-9, will be having a large garage sale Nov. 18th and 19th at 270 Rosemary St. Port Charlotte. The First United Methodist Church at 503 W. Olympia, Punta Gorda will have Fall Festival Sat. Nov. 18 from 10a to 3p. Sounds like they have a lot of stuff to get rid of! Also our neighbors at the River Forest Village is also having a garage sale the same weekend. Looks like us women will have a lot to do this weekend, huh ladies? I have attached a map to the garage sale on Rosemary.

Why do we do Anything?

One of our residents has requested that I print his explanation as to why he rides an ATV. This is his article; Why I Ride My ATV.

It’s sometimes hard to explain to some people why I love to ride my all terrain vehicle. To some it seems like I invest an incredible amount of time, money and effort into my chosen sport. And for what exactly some may ask. Why would anyone want to spend a week day or worse yet a weekend out in the middle of the boonies riding their four wheeler? After all there’s dust and mud, snakes and mosquitoes! Why would anyone want that? Well, ATV riders know why we love it so much. The fun of the ride, the thrills of the terrain, the companionship of fellow riders and most of all the freedom of being in the great outdoors. I think ATVers are truly nature lovers at heart. Our machines allow us to move over the lay of the land irregardless of where it goes. Stopping along the way to take in all the beauty God gave us. This is why Steve Spisak rides an ATV.

Special Interest

Please note that on Dec. 2, 2000 at the United Methodist Church on Cleveland Ave. there will be a Pancake Breakfast from 7:30am to 9:30am. Also, at the same facility there will be a dinner on Dec. 15, 2000 from 4:45pm to 6:30pm.

Snowbirds!

Ken Marlette sent an interesting article to me and I’m gonna share it with all of you especially the shuffleboarders. On September 18th Ken was involved in a tournament in his community, Pinery Center, and it appears he took second place. But he sounded all right with that. Now he is hoping to make opening day of hunting season for the rifle on Nov. 15th of this month if his breathing is "OK". He says he hasn’t missed one since he was 15 years old. Boy I’ll bet he has some stories to tell. Ken says he and Char should be here in about 3 weeks. The Luzaders are back at A-4.

FYI

It is truly a sad state of affairs when our mentors are preyed upon. We have so much to learn from our elders. If it weren’t for our forefathers who settled this country for us where would we be now. The same can be said for our new day forefathers. If not for their hard work, ambition, and teachings how would things be today? Our mentors must be protected. Attached to this is a copy and reminder of what evil lurks out there for all of us but especially for our elderly.

They just keep getting younger!

We have more November birthday babies to announce. Wendell Palmer 11/15, Sharon Richards 11/17, Ernie Martin 11/28. Happy Birthday to all of you!

Anniversaries

I am very proud to announce for the Luzaders that they will celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary on November 20th, 2000. I have to say to be married that length of time to one person is an accomplishment in itself with the average marriage these days projected to last 3.2yrs. I think we all need to let them know how happy we are for them and also let them know how much of an accomplishment they have made and also a what a very good role model for the world!

New Faces

F-2 has again been sold and now the new owners are Jim and Beverly Baker. Beverly is Jeanie Osborns sister. It is very nice to have more family to add to ours.

Our Park

It looks as if the meeting on Saturday went very well. We have two volunteers for two projects mentioned at the meeting. Betty Damato will be taking care of organizing and taking names for the Neighborhood Watch Program. Ernie Martin will be taking measurements of any one that wants to submit for the Fishing Contest. Ernie also has contest forms. He will be the one you need to see when you think you have "The Big One". The fishing contest begins Dec. 1, 2000 thru March 31, 2001. The winner will be determined by weight and in the event of a tie the longer of the two will be the winner. Ernie lives at C-11 and Betty lives at D-32. This is GREAT! In the event someone else wants to head either of the two mentioned categories we will then have an election otherwise these two people will handle the above mentioned activities.

Park Pooches

We all love being able to have our pets in this park with us. There are some disturbing complaints that are well founded. If any of us have a dog that barks while we are away, it needs to be put up in trailer, RV, or mobile home not on the lanai or porch where it can not see out. Maybe put a radio on to drown out the noise. Also if we all want to continue to be able to keep our pets here in the park with us we all HAVE to pick up their POOP! It has become a problem already. Due to the number of pets in this park amounts to a lot of dog poo! If rule #10 is not adhered to it will be unfortunate but necessary to ban all animals from this park. If you see someone, anyone with an animal in this park and you see it go to the bathroom make sure the owner picks it up. All of us as residents have the right to make sure our rules are followed. For those of us that do not abide by the rules, Please consider this a warning. At this time I would also like to mention that according to our insurance coverage we can no longer accept pets over 30 lbs. Those who are already here will be allowed till they leave. If you have any questions please call or come by the office and I’ll try to answer you.

Recycling

Please note that the shuffleboaders are still saving aluminum cans for trophies. You can leave cans at the shuffleboard courts or drop them off at the Booms #4 Mango. Also Bob Boom has asked if any of you could save your old egg cartons for him to put golf balls in that he finds. Thanks. The trash people have asked that we put our trash on the right side of the streets because their truck weight shifting from side to side is cracking our streets. We think it is a good idea. So let’s all try and put our trash on the right side of the street.

Giving Thanks

We will have a Thanksgiving Dinner in the rec hall Thursday Nov. 23rd, 2000, at 2pm. Everyone is welcome. You need to sign up in the hall so we know how Big a Turkey to get. When you sign up please list your covered dish that you want to bring. Sign ups must be done by Monday Nov. 20th.

Attention
