Palms and Pines Whispers Vol. ii Edition IV What’s Happenin’ It’s February and Cupid has been sighted all over the county. I saw him at the fishing pier Tuesday. I watched in amazement as he drew back his cute little gold colored bow, flinging his arrow that narrowly missed Dick Dwyer B-12, who was attempting to reel in a beautiful blue fin swordfish, and caught the dorsal fin of a Dolphin that just happen to be swimming by. Then the funniest thing happened, the dolphin started swimming after a momma Manatee that was hanging out at the boat dock. I watched in amazement as they swam up river fin to flipper. I would really like to know what happened between the two of them! If you see an unusual pair out in the big water you heard it first from me.
Thank You Ron Dring has returned home. He arrived Wednesday. He has asked that I extend to all of you that sent him cards and flowers a very Big THANK YOU! It meant a great deal to him to see such a show of support from his peers here at the park. So once again from Ron, THANK YOU!
One of Our Own Mr. Les Hallett passed away in the early am on Feb. 6th, 2001. Bless his heart.
Can you see me? Can you hear me?A 40-foot bus will be parked in the lot in front of the boat dock to give all of us a free sight and hearing evaluation. March 19th, 2001 from 9am to 2:30pm. That falls on a Monday. So after you get all caffeine up on coffee that morning you can go have your eyes and ears tested for free!
Our Sickies Mrs. Esther Mettler D-11 had outpatient surgery on her right wrist/hand to regain sensitivity and use of that hand. Her surgery took place Feb. 8, 2001 at 8:30am. We wish her only the best. Good Luck Esther! Another post-surgical patient is Mary Sue Glass E-1. She had surgery on her foot in January! Then her and Bill both had a bout of the "crud" but she tells me that they are both doing much better now! I didn’t know she had been hospitalized or I would have reported on her last month. Sorry MarySue! But glad you’re doing well now. Our 2nd post surgical patient is Ken Blossom B-16. He had some sort malignant mass removed from the kidney area. I have heard he is doing great and that all the malignancy was gotten. Good Job Ken!
Computers! As you have noticed everything is computerized! Including a lot of us. John Key has suggested that we do an e-mail exchange. There are a good number of residents that now have a home PC and also have one up north. It could be a good way to communicate more quickly than the US Postal system! If you are interested in sharing your e-mail address with the other computer geeks please give it to me and I will print them all out in the next newsletter for all to have and share. Thanks.
Calendars I have put together 2months of events for Feb. and March. Please save the attachments for future reference.
Water, Water According to the Charlotte Co. Water Dept. our lawn watering day is Tuesday from 4pm to 12mn and from 12mn to 10am. I was told we could hand water anytime. This didn’t sound bad to me at all.
Probation I am very happy to announce that Valerie Meyers is now off probation for a citation she received for reading her mail at the mailboxes. Her defense was that she didn’t know it was against the law to read mail while at the boxes. She endured 2 weeks of not being allowed to get her mail. She is now a law-abiding citizen once again. Good Work, Val! If you witness anyone reading his or her mail at the boxes you too can issue a citation of law breaking. It pays to know the rules. Now go get those lawbreakers!
Deadlines For any information you would like to see in print in this newsletter, please have into me by the Monday before print. I have been able to put the newsletter out every two weeks. So you know there will be one issued every other week. This should help you to be able to get your notices, articles, or whatever info into me by the Monday of the week the newsletter is to be put out. Does this make sense to you? Let me know.
Payphone Yes, the payphone is out of order. I have contacted Sprint to see if maybe they would put in a payphone. They have told me that there is not enough revenue year round to warrant them to put one here. The company that the park bought our payphone from has not yet returned my call to offer any options. To date I’m still waiting to find out what we can do. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. There is a payphone at the Circle-K at the end of Cleveland.
